Johnson Electric provides high force, high speed solenoid products to trip and then reset high voltage circuit breakers. Bi-directional latching tubular solenoids marketed under the Ledex brand, remain in their energized position for an indefinite time. In the event of an over current or over voltage situation, the solenoids will unlatch to open the circuit and protect all downstream electrical and electronic devices. Actuation speed is critical to prevent system damage. The solenoid retains a high-energy spring in the compressed position. The solenoid is then energized which releases the spring and forces the breaker contacts to open. When the electrical danger is cleared, the bi-directional solenoid is then reversed to overcome the spring force to return it to the original position. Ledex solenoids are custom engineered to meet customer requirements for very high forces in a bi-directional package with very high actuation speeds.
