Johnson Electric Launches Gas Shut-Off Valve for Smart Meters - Industry’s First Zero Pressure Drop Shut-Off Valve for Gas Meters

Stuttgart, November 29, 2011 -- Johnson Electric today announced the industry’s first integrated gas meter shut-off module to combine mechanical valve, motor, sensors and control electronics.  The Saia-GM branded product line features zero pressure drop and improved grid efficiency.

This gas valve product line can be deployed on the meter inlet or meter outlet. The valves are compact with a flexible interface for bayonet type fittings.  The Saia-GM gas valve conforms to EN60079-11: 2006  protection “i” for gas groups IIA (Methane, Propane) and IIB (town gas). This modular product line can be custom engineered for applications that require precise position feedback, thermal sensing or integrated control functions.

“This ATEX compliant design is the most reliable and efficient gas valve in a compact package,” said Jim Dick, Johnson Electric’s senior vice president of Strategic Marketing. “This product’s technology leadership is driven by the evolution of the Smart Grid,” he added.
