Johnson Electric to Open Manufacturing Plant in Serbia – Facility Supports Customers’ Supply Chain Strategies
Hong Kong, 25 September, 2013 -- Johnson Electric Holdings Limited, a global leader in custom motion subsystems, motors and solenoids, plans to open a production facility in the city of Nis, Serbia, that will manufacture products for Johnson Electric’s European customers. In addition to geographic and logistical considerations, Nis was selected because of the availability of a stable and skilled workforce.
Production will begin in 2014, and the first phase of the project will include a 10,000 sq. meter factory, with plans for up to 1,000 workers over the next few years. The investment adds additional production capacity to the company’s existing facilities in Hungary, Poland, Italy, France and Switzerland.
"This expansion of Johnson Electric’s production capacity is aligned with the supply chain strategies of our European customers, who select partners with a global manufacturing footprint to support their regional production and their new projects,” said Jim Dick, Johnson Electric’s senior vice president, strategic marketing and sales.
